Tetouan – The structuring projects, to be launched under the “Compact II” program of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), administered by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), will undoubtedly strengthen the socio-economic development and encourage investment in Morocco, said, on Saturday in Tetouan, MCC CEO, Dana Hyde.

“The major projects to be launched under the Compact II are meant to mitigate two major constraints to economic growth in Morocco: education/training and land sectors, in order to support the structural reforms undertaken by Morocco, promote socio-economic development and encourage private investment with high added value,” Hyde told MAP on the sidelines of the launch of the program.

She said that choosing Morocco for the launch of the second Compact is certainly not fortuitous, rather, it is a sign of recognition for the will of the Moroccan government to undertake reforms in the key economic fields for growth and investment, and for the encouraging results achieved under the Compact I.

Concerning the Compact II program, Hyde said that it aims to improve the employability of young Moroccans and strengthen the governance and productivity of rural and industrial land, in order to meet the needs of entrepreneurs, promote investment in Morocco and reinforce the skills of young people to become development actors.

“Morocco has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the achievement of the MCC’s goals and the implementation of the Compact I projects, and has every chance to succeed in the Compact II, due to the structuring reforms undertaken in several socio-economic areas,” she said, highlighting the “fruitful and exemplary” partnership between the United States and Morocco.
