Paris – The procedure before a common law court for the suspects in the Gdim Izik case, which opened on Dec. 26, helps to ensure a fair trial, make the truth known and sentence the culprits, said Paris Bar lawyer Emmanuel Tawil.

“There is no doubt that this trial will shed light on the truth and make it known to all,” said Tawil who is one of the lawyers of Gdim Izik victims, recalling the presence during this trial of international observers and many foreign lawyers.

This is a trial that fully respects the rights of the defense, he told MAP, adding that the defendants had the opportunity to speak freely and benefited form the presence of their lawyers. “The victims will also express themselves,” Tawil said, noting that their main concern is to know what really happened.

All requisites of a fair trial are met, he underlined, stressing that the case involve criminal facts which led to the death of 11 people and the injury of 70 others among the forces of order and civilians.
