Casablanca-Berrechid Highway Expansion to Launch in 2017

Casablanca – Morocco’s National Highway Office (ADM) has begun the process of tripling the Casablanca-Berrechid highway.

According to Akhbar Al Yaoum’s January 4 edition, the project is aiming to alleviate congestion in the Greater Casablanca region by expanding the Casablanca-Berrechid highway.

The ADM reportedly met last week, on December 27, in the presence of Minister of Economy and Finance and Acting Minister of Equipment, Transportation and Logistics Mohamed Boussaïd to discuss the major projects the organization is expecting to launch this year.

“The construction associated with the tripling of the Casablanca-Berrechid highway will begin in 2017,” ADM Director Anouar Benazzouz tells Telquel.

“Approximately ten companies were preselected for their work, but the process will take two to three years depending on the offer finally selected,” Benazzouz adds.

This year, the ADM is also focusing on digitizing and modernizing highway tolls. The initiative, which began in 2014, will benefit from the assistance of Vinci, France’s leading building and civil engineering company.
