King Mohammed VI Holds Private Meeting with President of Republic of Ghana

Rabat – King Mohammed VI held, on Friday at the presidential Palace in Accra, a private meeting with President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo.

Following the meeting, the two leaders exchanged symbolic presents.

Afterwards, the Ghanaian president decorated King Mohammed VI with the Order of the Star of Ghana, the highest Ghanaian award granted by the president of the Republic.

The King, for his part, gave the Ghanaian president the Al Mohammadi Wissam, the highest award in the Moroccan Kingdom.

Nana Akufo-Addo underlined in a speech on this occasion that the award is a “recognition of your outstanding leadership, your commitment to social justice and the sustainability of peace, stability and democracy that prevail in your country and your commendable role in forging friendly ties with Ghana and other sister African countries.”

“As King, you have brought to the high office rare qualities of dedication, integrity, sincerity, modesty and concern for the well being of all your peoples, especially the underprivileged,” he said.

“Your sensitivity to the needs of your people and your strong insistence on integrity and moral principles have won you respect and admiration worldwide,” the Ghanaian head of state underlined.

“You have steadfastly advocated and supported the pursuance of programs leading to the creation of democratic institutions with equal opportunities for all peoples for the promotion and preservation of human rights,” he added.

“Under your energetic and courageous leadership, you have persistently expressed the desire to work assiduously towards strengthening cooperation with African countries, including Ghana,” Nana Akufo-Addo stressed.

“Your Majesty, it is worthy of note that, since your ascension to the throne, the long-standing cordial relations between Ghana and Morocco have been deepened. Indeed, under your leadership, relations between Ghana and Morocco have blossomed in the areas of education and scientific cooperation,” he concluded.
