Rabat – Police arrested 17 people on Thursday following a violent clash between the police and a leftist student group known as “the Interim Program,” said the authorities of the Fez-Meknes region.
The clash, which occurred near the Faculty of Dher El Mehraz in Fez, resulted in injuries to several members of the Public Forces after students began throwing stones at them.
The forces were attempting to disperse the students, who tried to stage an illegal sit-in outside the Court of Appeal in Fez, where a trial of other students from the same school accused in a murder case was taking place.
The detained students are being held in custody while police continue the search for other suspects, according to the source.
