Rabat – The upcoming Moroccan government, led by Justice and Development Party (PJD)’ Saad Eddine Othmani, is likely to be appointed soon.
As media reports indicate, many names of politicians from the six parties of the governmental coalition, are surfacing as potential next ministers.
The list of potential ministers include ones in the outgoing government, including Aziz Akhannouch, the leader of the Rally of National Independents (RNI) party, who is apparently going to remain as minister of agriculture for a third mandate.
Nabil Benabdellah, the leader of Progress and Socialism Party (PPS), will too retain his portfolio as minister of housing and urbanism planning. The same goes for RNI’s Mohamed Bousaid as minister of finance.
Two outgoing ministers from PJD, Aziz Rabah and Abdelkader amed Amara, will switch departments. Rabah will be in charge of energy and mining and Amara will assume transport and equipment portfolio.
Their colleagues in both party and government, Mustapha Ramid and Mustapha El Khalfi, will not keep their portfolios as minister of justice for the former, and minister of communication for the latter.
Ramid, according to media reports, is going to be appointed as minister of state in charge of human rights. On the other hand, justice portfolio will be assumed by RNI’s Mohamed Oujar. The latter was a minister in charge of human rights in Abderahmane Yousfi’s government.
As for El Khalfi, he is most likely to become a minister in charge of relations with parliament. His party co-member, Mohamed Yatim, will replace him as minister of communication.
The most unusual appointment in the next government will certainly be that of Mohamed Hassad. The outgoing minister of interior, who has no party affiliation, will be appointed, according to the media, as minister of education.
Nacer Bouretta, former minister delegate to the minister of foreign affairs will be elevated as foreign minister. He will be backed in office by Abdelkarim Benatiq, member of Socialist Union for Popular Forces (USFP) party and former leader of the Labour party.
