Rabat – Miriam Bensalah-Chaqroun, the president of the General Confederation for Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), has provided the Ministry of Employment with a new set of proposals for Moroccan business policy.

Bensalah-Chaqroun met with Mohamed Yatim, Minister of Employment and Professional Integration on Thursday April 20 in Casablanca. Jaouad Cheikh Lahlou, mediator of CGEM, Jamal Belahrach, vice-president of the Confederation, and Hicham Zouanat, chairman of the CGEM Employment and Social Relations Committee attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Bensalah-Chaqroun presented to the Minister the CGEM‘s proposals for fostering a social environment in tune with the realities of the Moroccan economy, which they said will enable the country to remain competitive and create added value and additional jobs.

Immediately following the appointment of El Othmani government, the CGEM issued a press release April 7 calling for the reactivation of their partnership platform with the government. “The CGEM, a partner of the government, will mobilize as it has always done, to work alongside the Executive in the framework of a responsible and serene public-private partnership,” the group stressed.

During his meeting with CGEM, Yatim assured that government has assigned a high priority to improving the country’s social climate. The Minister expressed his belief about the driving role played by the CGEM and highlighted the convergence of views between the Confederation and the Executive, calling for the establishment of a frank and responsible dialogue.

In the wake of the new Head of Government’s statement that trade unions are “partners”, Yatim has begun to separately meet with the social partners, including the heads of the UMT, the CDT and will receive on Friday the UGTM, the UNTM then the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry to resume contact with the mentioned parties.

Yatim is a member of the trade union movement, having headed the National Union of Labor in Morocco (UNMT), a trade union center close to the PJD, before entering El Othmani’s government.
