Rabat- Moroccan social media users mocked Minister Delegate in Charge of Tourism, Lamia Boutaleb, after giving a shaky answer on domestic tourism.
During a parliamentary session, Boutaleb stuttered as she was unsuccessfully trying to provide a coherent answer to an MP’s question about the government’ strategy to promote tourist destinations for local residents.
The minister was overcome by panic as there were moments of pause during her answer.
Salvation came she was cut by the session’s chairman, saying her time to answer the MP’s question was up.
A video of the minister’s answer in parliament went viral, with most viewers on Youtube slamming Boutaleb and questioning her qualifications.
“How much is she paid to make such a presentation? This is unbelievable”, reads a comment on Youtube.
Other commentators tried to find excuses for the minister, saying she is just not used to speaking in Arabic as she was educated in French and English.
Boutaleb studied holds degrees from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) in Lausanne and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
