Rabat – Moroccan-Dutch international footballer, Hakim Ziyech, has no plans to defend his Moroccan jersey despite being selected to support his Moroccan national team in a friendly match against the Netherlands.
Morocco team coach, Hervé Renard, has finally decided to call up Ajax’s star to participate in the friendly game against the opponent.
According to the Dutch media platform, Telegraf, the 24-year-old player may, however, refuse to appear in the clash due to shaky relations between him and the French coach.
Morocco will face the Netherlands on May 31 in Agadir.
In April, the Ajax playmaker told Dutch media that he would never play for the Moroccan national football team, as long as Herve Renard is the coach.
“As long as he is there, I am thinking of something else. It has become something personal, but in the end, he has the last word concerning selections,” explained the footballer.
Ziyech has also expressed his desire to play for the Moroccan team, ruling it out while Renard is at the helm of the Atlas Lions. He added that he would wait for his opportunity to defend his Moroccan jersey.
