Rabat – For 16 years, the Maroc Cultures Association has been putting Rabat, Sale and Hay Nahda on the map with an exceptional annual rendezvous, Mawazine the Rhythms of the World.

The festival gathers together some of the most legendary and renowned musicians around the world annually.

On Friday, the beautiful Fatima Zahra Laaroussi was the first to hit Sale’s stage with her Moroccan tracks including “Lahbiba Mi”, “Yallah Nkhalko Saada” and “Maghribia.”

Still fresh from her performance at Sale during the festival’s first night, the Moroccan diva, Latifa Raafat has also hit the stage performing her beautiful hits, including, ” Mghiara” and “Ayit Ma Nessbar Ya Kalbi” in the presence of thousands of attendees.

Abderahim Souiri, Melhoun and Madih Master fascinated his fans during the first day of the 16th edition of the event.

Moroccan Chaabi artist, Tahour, also shook the stage during his performance on Friday night.

The Hay Nahda Stage gathered together British artist, Sami Yusuf and his fans in a very classy atmosphere. The festival’s public did not hesitate to sing along with the artist to some of his newest and oldest songs, including, “Hassbi Rabi.”

Since its inception in 2001, the festival has brought together the greatest figures in the global music scene. As a result, Mawazine is ranked the second greatest cultural event in the world. The festival will run until May 20.
