Rabat – Famous French-Congolese Singer Gandhi Djuna, commonly known as Maitre Gims, has shared on social media pictures of him in Mecca where he went to perform omra (minor pilgrimage).
Gims, who converted to Islam in 2004, is seen wearing a Moroccan gandora and Gulf countries’ national attire.
Along with one of his pictures, taken on top of a mountain in the Muslim holy city, Gims posted a verse from the Quran that says: “And do not walk upon the earth exultantly. Indeed, you will never tear the earth [apart], and you will never reach the mountains in height.”
A personal friend of King Mohammed VI, Gims has been pictured on several occasions with the monarch and members of the Royal family.
He is an habitué of Morocco where he has a large fan base.
