Rabat – A photo showing a group of hunters beside a mass of dead birds has sparked indignation on Moroccan social media, with some users blaming Moroccan Chaabi singer Abdelaziz Stati.
Social media users have described the hunting act of birds as “illegal” and an “unjustified massacre,” prompting some to call for animal rights and environmental preservation associations to take the necessary measures.
Additional photos emerged on social media platforms showing Stati surrounded by a group of dead birds. Besides his musical profession, Stati is known for his passion for bird hunting, describing it always as his favorite hobby.
Stati has since asserted that he was not involved with the widely-circulated picture on social media.
“This picture is fabricated, indeed, during all the years I’ve been practicing hunting, I’ve never broken the law,” Stati told Hespress, adding that he is planning to sue those responsible for the rumors, who said he had intended to ruin his reputation.
The popular singer said that he has done nothing wrong or unethical, denying the allegation of hunting birds “illegally.” Stati assured that only the pictures posted on his Facebook account are “real.
