Rabat – Othmane El Ferdaous, Secretary to the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Digital Investment, presented before the House of Representations on Tuesday a set of reforms, aimed at strengthening the National Agency for development, Investments and Exports (AMDI).
El Ferdaous stated that “the bill forms part of the structured workshops announced in front of King Mohammed VI in July 2016.”
He added that the industrial acceleration plan, the Court of Auditors and the Economic, Social and Environment Council (CESE) have all recommended the merging of Casablanca’s Office of Fairs and Exhibitions (OFCF), the Moroccan Export Promotion Center (CMPE), and the AMDI.
“It is also worth mentioning that the industrial acceleration plan counted on the merge of promotion agencies into one agency,” said Ferdaous
The secretary went on to add that “after the draft law was presented to the House of Councils, several amendments were made to the bill’s regulations.”
“AMDI’s board of directors will be composed of several representatives of the state and representatives of export associations, in addition to four experts appointed by decree on the proposal of Moulay Hafid El Alamy, Minister of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy,” added El Ferdaous.
The Secretary to the Minister of Industry also pointed out that “once the bill is entered into force, several employees will be transferred from the establishments mentioned before [OFCF and CMPE] to the AMDI, which will be based in Rabat.”
He added that the employees would enjoy the same rights they had in their former jobs, in accordance to their competence.
