Washignton – Saturday, October 14th, more than 300 people were killed and more than 300 injured in Mogadishu, Somalia. This will mark one of the deadliest assaults in Somalia’s history.
Somalia went into a national mourning following the blast with more than 100 people still missing and hundreds injured. Turkey has stepped into aiding the country and Somalia is asking for blood donations but in the middle of all this chaos, social media asks: Where is all the anger, the outrage, but most importantly, where is the coverage?
The # of people killed in Somalia yesterday was 10x more than the # killed in Manchester in May (230 to 22)
But it got 100x less coverage

Many people have taken to twitter to express their frustrations on how little the Somalis attack has been covered. Law professor and author of America Islamophobia: Understanding The Roots and Rise of Fear, tweeted: “The # of people killed in Somalia yesterday was 10x more than the # killed in Manchester in May (230 to 22) But it got 100x less coverage”
Famous Pakistani actor and performer, Hamza Ali Abbasi tweets his concerns:
More than 200 killed in a blast in Somalia, no twitter trends/headlines, proof that world is governed only by power politics not by humanity.

Deputy Editor of Allure Magazine expresses her frustrations:
OK yes a lot is going on in the news cycle right now but the fact that the bombings in Somalia isnt the top twitter moment is absurd

On the day of the attack, many top news networks in America did not cover the Somalian attack on their front pages. CNN had many stories about the Las Vegas attack as well as other news from the country, but had the Somalis attack put at the bottom of their page.
Other instances would lack of response. On the day of the Paris Attack, lights came up in show for solidarity for France all over the world.
Overwhelming response came from this attack. Days later, many countries came together to show their solidarity for Somalia, including France, USA, UK, Turkey, Canada, and the African Union.
Somalia is currently trying to identify who is behind the attack.
