Marrakech Bus Crash in Heavy Rain Leaves 56 Injured and 1 Newborn Missing

Rabat – On Thursday morning, 56 people were wounded and a newborn baby was left missing after a bus skidded in heavy rain on a road connecting El-Jadida to Marrakech and then became stuck in the middle of a flooded valley.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus coming from the city of Marrakech towards the city of Safi overturned near Oued Kasseb, in the rural district of Harbil near Tamansourt.

The heavy rains that affected several regions in Morocco have caused river water levels to rise, and many have overflowed.

Members of the local authorities and the services of the Royal Gendarmerie and Civil Protection as well as elements of the Royal Armed Forces arrived along with a helicopter to transfer passengers to Ibn Toufail Hospital in Marrakech.
