Moroccan Essadik Alaoui Appointed as CAF Deputy General Secretary

Rabat – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Moroccan Essadik Alaoui as its Deputy Secretary General in charge of Administration and Finance in a CAF executive meeting held on November 16 in Rabat, according to a press release issued by the organization.

The 50-year old newly appointed deputy SG is a graduate of the Moulay Rachid National Sports Institute in Morocco, the statement added. He has also studied Sports Management at the University of Indiana in the United States of America.

“A good part of his professional career has been with the Royal Football Federation (FRMF),” said CAF.  Essadik was the director of the FIFA Club World Cup Tournament staged in Morocco in 2014.

Egyptian Amr Fahmy has been also named as the CAF General Secretary during the meeting. The 34-year old was proposed to the Executive Committee by Ahmad Ahmad, CAF president, “in accordance with the statutory provisions,” the statement added.

Fahmy took part in the FIFA Master program in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport, where he undertook courses on the campuses of the Universities of Neuchatel in Switzerland, Bocconi in Italy and De Montfort in the United Kingdom.

CAF has also appointed Ghanaian international former footballer Anthony Baffoe as its deputy General Secretary in charge of Development and Competitions. The 52-year old is a holder of a CAF License “A” Coaching Certificate. He has also attended various FIFA training programs in Administration, and doubles as a FIFA Instructor in Administration and Management, according to the same statement.

In May, CAF elected Morocco’s Fouzi Lekjaa as member of CAF executive committee. Lekjaa, who is also president of FRMF, was also appointed by CAF’s 3rd vice president in July.
