Rabat – Police at the Marrakech-Menara International Airport have arrested a 58-year old French suspect under an international arrest warrant from Swiss authorities.
Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) issued a statement on Sunday detailing the arrest. The statement indicated that the police arrested the suspect on Saturday at the airport.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is the subject of a red notice from Interpol.
Swiss authorities convicted the suspect in absentia for fraud dating back to a period when he was in charge of the management of a Swiss company.
The arrest is in line with Morocco’s security cooperation to strengthen international collaboration.
Recently, Moroccan law enforcement services have arrested several individuals under international arrest search warrants.
In April, Moroccan police arrested in Essaouira a French national for links to an international drug trafficking network.
The suspect was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by French authorities since 2017 for links with drug trafficking entities.
