Rabat – Before facing off against Badr Hari for the fourth time, the Glory Heavyweight Champion Rico Verhoeven still has to settle the score with Moroccan-Belgian kickboxer Jamal Ben Saddik.

Verhoeven knocked out Ben Saddik in a title fight in the fifth round in December 2017.

The Glory CEO Marshall Zelaznik told Dutch news outlet nu.nl that a title fight between the two kickboxers is likely to take place.

“We’re going to work hard to get that fight done. Jamal deserves a chance for the title,” said Zelaznik.

Since his loss against Verhoeven, the 29-year-old Moroccan-Belgian delivered outstanding performances in the kickboxing arena by taking down several considerable opponents in three heavyweight fights in the Glory 62 battle in Rotterdam.

Zelaznik said that he wants the fight to be held in a large stadium.

“It’s going to be a great fight. We want to do that in a large stadium. The hall in Utrecht is not big enough.”

The first Glory event in 2020 is set to take place on February 29 at the Central Studios in Utrecht. Ben Saddik and Verhoeven are likely to face each other again on that date.

The Glory CEO went on to commend the high level of sportsmanship and respect that Hari and Verhoeven showed both before and after the tournament.

“This fight didn’t need any bad blood or tension. Rico and Badr treated each other respectfully the days before the fight and set an example for other athletes. It is absolutely in Glory’s interest to have them fight each other again quickly,” he concluded.
