Rabat – The US Defense Department has awarded defense contractor Raytheon a $9,075,931 firm-fixed-price contract to repair 155 high-speed anti-radiation missiles for Morocco and Turkey.

The company, based in Tuscon, Arizona, will conduct repair and maintenance services for the 155 high-speed anti-radiation missiles, in support of Morocco’s Air Force.

The contractor will complete the project in December 2020.

The latest contract is in addition to the  $768,283,907 non-competitive fixed-price incentive (firm) deal signed by  Raytheon to produce AMRAAM missiles and other equipment for several countries, including Morocco.

Raytheon is expected to deliver the Amraam Missiles to Morocco in February 2023.

Morocco and US continue to reinforce their military collaboration with a series of contracts.

The military agreement seeks to develop Morocco’s royal armed forces and to enhance their expertise.

The US is Morocco’s major military equipment supplier. The North African country’s arms acquisition deals with the US totaled $10.3 billion in 2019, according to data from the Forum on the Arms Trade from the US Foreign Military Sales program.

With the major acquisition, Morocco outranked Saudi Arabia in terms of ofUS arms purchase in the Middle East and North Africa region.

In 2019, Morocco concluded several military agreements with the US.

One of the most recent military agreements was in November 2019, when the US State Department approved the sale of 36 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters and related equipment to Morocco for an estimated cost of $4.25 billion.
