Rabat – Moroccan police arrested two suspects for allegedly raping an underage girl in the city of Casablanca, a statement from national police has said on Tuesday.
The security services arrested the suspects, aged 23 and 24, in collaboration with the judicial police in Moulay Rachid region in Casablanca.
One of the suspects is the main perpetrator of the rape. The case dates back to August 2018.
The suspect, who was on the run, was the subject of five arrest warrants for drug trafficking.
Police arrested the second suspect for his alleged participation in the crime, and for not reporting the rape to the police.
The second suspect owns the place where the rape incident took place.
The suspects will remain in custody while police investigate the circumstances of the incident.
 The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) reported the arrest of a third suspect in June 2019.
Article 486 of the penal code in Morocco stipulated raping minors, people with special needs or pregnant women merits a prison sentence of between 10 and 20 years.
