Morocco’s president of the Moroccan Royal Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, was elected to the executive committee of the Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA) Council today, June 17.
According to reports, the president of the FRMF had submitted his candidacy following the insistence of several officials of the Arab Union.
The news on Lekjaa’s election comes during the 26th general assembly of the UAFA.
The general assembly also saw the re-election of Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal Al Saud as president of the football body.
The elected members will serve the federation council for the 2021-2025 session.
This election comes only three months after Faouzi Lekjaa secured his membership in the FIFA council after the withdrawal of Algeria’s candidate Khaireddine Zetchi.

Serving as president of the FRMF since 2014, Lekjaa has become known for his ambitious sports policy and efforts to enhance Moroccan clubs’ administration and economic situations. Under his reign, Moroccan clubs have won multiple continental titles and the national team has improved as well.
Fouzi Lekjaa serves also as the second vice-president of the African Football Confederation (CAF) and the president of the continental football organization’s financial panel. He is also the vice-president of the Organizing Committee for Inter-Club Competitions and of the Organizing Committee for Management of the CAF Club Licensing System.
