Rabat – Spanish club Villareal is reportedly interested in signing Moroccan international Amine Harit.
Spanish sports outlet Marca said that Villareal is looking to secure a deal with Schalke 04 for Harit.
Unai Emery, Villareal’s coach, wishes to sign Harit to strengthen the Villareal squad that just won the Europa League, Marca said.
The Spanish outlet added that several teams from the Bundesliga, Germany’s football league, have also shown interest in signing Harit.
French club Olympique de Marseille is also among the teams that have been mentioned as potential destinations for the Moroccan player, “although none of the negotiations have been finalized,” said Marca.
Journalist Fabizio Ramon tweeted about Villareal’s quest for Harit, saying that negotiations are ongoing between Schalke 04 and the Spanish club.
Harit is under contract with Schalke 04 until 2024.
The 23-year-old midfielder is one of the key players of Morocco’s national team.
He participated with the Atlas Lions in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Schalke 04 extended Harit’s contract in 2019.
“Extending Amine’s contract is a great moment for our club,” said at the time Schalke 04 sporting director Jochen Schneider.
He added that the Morocco football player’s “outstanding achievements in recent months” have long attracted the attention of many clubs.
