Morocco international Noussair Mazraoui missed the Atlas Lions’ latest group training session ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup opener against Brazil, undergoing an individual indoor recovery program instead.

According to Almountakhab, the Manchester United defender continued his rehabilitation work inside the gym under the supervision of the national team’s medical staff. His absence from collective training is part of a precautionary approach to ensure a full recovery from the injury he sustained during Morocco’s recent friendly match against Norway.

The same source added that Mazraoui was seen following a personalized fitness and treatment program alongside physiotherapists and medical specialists. The focus was placed on physical conditioning and recovery exercises as he continues to progress toward full fitness.

Despite missing the group session, signs remain encouraging regarding the defender’s condition. Recent medical examinations reportedly produced positive results, increasing optimism that he could be available for Morocco’s highly anticipated World Cup opener against Brazil.

The coaching staff, led by Mohammed Ouahbi, is closely monitoring Mazraoui’s recovery before making a final decision on his participation. His potential return would provide a significant boost for Morocco, given his importance within the team’s defensive setup.

With only three days remaining before their Group C opener, the Atlas Lions remain hopeful that one of their key defenders will recover in time for what is expected to be one of the most intense matches of the group stage.
