Rabat – Radisson Hotels is rapidly expanding its presence in hotels, announcing the opening of four new luxury developments this week. The US hotel chain, which owns the international “Radisson Blu” chain among others, has identified Morocco as a “key focus market” on the continent.
Earlier this month Radisson announced it would be building seven new hotels and resorts, an ambition it appears to already be scaling up.
Radisson Hotels this week announced the opening of two luxury developments in Al Hoceima, the 432-room Radisson Blu Resort near Cherif al Idrissi Airport, and a series of Radisson Blu residences, consisting of apartments and bungalows in the popular tourist city.
Radisson appears to be catering to domestic and foreign golf enthusiasts with its new 397-room luxury hotel in the beach town of Saidia Beach in northeastern Morocco. Far away from the country’s urban centres, the resort aims to deliver a luxury experience with three swimming pools and restaurants located near Saidia’s outstretched Mediterranean beaches.
For tourists and domestic travellers that favor the large waves of the Atlantic, Radisson is opening its Radisson Blu Resort in Taghazout Bay, a popular destination for surfers and other water sports enthusiasts. The hotel is a mix of a traditional hotel facility and separate individual bungalows, catering to more up-scale adventurous tourists.
Radison made the announcement in a press release published on July 26. In it, the hotel chain noted that it was “proud to announce the extension of its Moroccan footprint” with four new luxury properties.
The statement described the locations of the new hotels as “beloved tourist destinations” and indicated the new hotels would bring Radisson’s Moroccan portfolio to 10 hotels “in operation and under development.”
International luxury hotel chains are rapidly expanding their presence in tourist hot-spot Morocco amid a slow-down in global tourism due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides Radisson , luxury hotel group Marriott International is also expanding its Moroccan portfolio with ambitious new hotels, including the up-scale hotel Le Faberge in Casablanca.
