Record High 10,603 COVID-19 cases, 66 Deaths in Morocco in 24 Hours

Rabat – Health professionals announced a record high number of COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

The ministry of  health confirmed 10,603 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 653,286 as of August 4.

The ministry also recorded 66 deaths in 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 10,015.

Number of recoveries also jumped to 582,692 after 7,774 patients were declared COVID-19 free in the past 24 hours.

The number of active cases, however, remarkably increased to reach 60,579 in just a couple of weeks.

The number of patients in critical conditions is estimated at 1,304.

The fatality rate reached 1.5% while recovery rate is at 89.2%.

The Casablanca-Settat region recorded the majority of cases (3,523) in 24 hours, followed by Marrakech-Safi (1,480), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (1,318), and Souss-Massa (1,153).

Morocco’s Ministry of Health warned on Tuesday that the COVID-19 wave will be on its peak in the next coming days.

The ministry also warned citizens and residents to continue to take preventive measures seriously, including the wearing of masks in public.

Morocco also put in place more preventive measures, including the extension of night curfew from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. as part of its campaign against the spread of COVID-19 and its strains.

In terms of vaccination, the fully vaccinated population reached 10,574,472.

People who received the first dose of the vaccines reached 14,581,754, meanwhile.
