Rabat – The Moroccan Ministry recorded 105 COVID-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours.
The death toll due to the pandemic reached 10,509.
Morocco also reported 9,778 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 711,103 as of August 10.
The ministry also recorded 7,365 recoveries. The number of recovered people since the start of the pandemic has reached 624,766.
With the addition of today’s cases, the number of active COVID-19 infections in Morocco reached 75,818.
The number of people in critical conditions reached 1,692.
The Casablanca-Settat region reported the majority of cases (3,537 and 28 deaths).
Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima is second with 916 cases and nine deaths followed by Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (901 cases, eight deaths), and Souss-Massa (845 cases and 12 deaths).
Morocco has fully vaccinated 11,114,148 of the population as of August 10.
The number of people who received the first dose of vaccines mounted to 15,423,440.
Morocco seeks to vaccinate 80% of the population, prioritizing people with chronic diseases and those in the forefront such as doctors, civil services, security services educators, among others.
Health professionals have been calling on citizens to engage in the vaccination campaign to avoid spread of the pandemic, particularly the delta variant.
The health ministry also projects the COVID-19 wave to peak in the coming days, calling on citizens to respect all preventive measures and to limit movement.
The government also encourages remote working for people who can adopt the approach to inhibit the spread of the virus.
