Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Education has urged all students aged 18 and up to turn to the nearest vaccination center to receive the first dose of the vaccine, starting Monday, August 16

The ministry urged the provision of safe environments for the start of the next academic season, which begins in September.

The ministry instructed all students, including vocational trainees to go to the closest vaccination center to receive the first dose of the vaccine.

The ministry urged all students and trainees to engage “extensively to this important process of success in maintaining their health and safety, as well as enabling them to continue their studies in safe conditions.”

On Saturday, the Ministry of Health announced it will expand eligibility for vaccination to the population above the age of 18, starting tomorrow.

The expansion comes amid a surge in COVID-19 cases and deaths.

Health professionals are expressing concerns and worries amid the surge of cases.

The number of COVID-19 cases reached 752,076, including 657,958 recoveries, and 10,993 deaths.

The North African country recorded thousands of cases exceeding 10,000 cases in just 24 hours.

Deaths also increased significantly from a few cases to over 100 in 24 hours.

Morocco repeatedly called on citizens and residents to engage in the vaccination  campaign.

The vaccination campaign is progressing. Morocco has fully vaccinated a total of 11,389,655 of the population.

Over 16,240,404 people received the first dose of the vaccine.
