Night Curfew To Start at 9 P.M. Across Morocco Starting Tuesday

Rabat – The night curfew will start at 9 p.m. instead of 11 p.m. across Morocco, starting August 3, the Moroccan government announced today.

The night curfew will run until 5 a.m. instead of 4:30 a.m.

A statement from the government announced several new preventive measures amid the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases.

The new measures also include a ban on travel to and from the cities of Casablanca, Marrakech and Agadir.

Only vaccinated people with valid vaccination passports and urgent medical conditions will be allowed to travel to the three cities.

In addition, those working in the transportation of goods and merchandise, as well as workers in the public and private sectors holding a “mission order” document, will also be allowed to access these cities.

Morocco’s government called on restaurants and cafes to close their doors at 9 p.m.

The preventive measures also include closure of hammams, gyms, and covered swimming pools.

Hotels and other tourism establishments’ capacity should not exceed 75%.

The government also encouraged all sectors, including private and public sectors to work remotely.

“The government also decided to maintain all other precautionary restrictions that were previously approved,” the statement said.

The preventive measures include prohibiting the organization of weddings and other gatherings.

The measure also includes limiting the capacity of public transportation, restaurants, cafes, and public swimming pools to 50%.

The government concluded its statement, stressing the importance of adhering to all the precautionary measures as part of the state of emergency.

The preventive measures stresses the significance of wearing masks in public and social distance.

The decision to impose more restrictions comes in response to the alarming increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths.

To date, Morocco recorded 633,923 COVID-19 cases, including 569,452 recoveries, and 9,885 deaths.
