Morocco Detects 2,668 New COVID-19 Cases, Records 66 Deaths

Denver- New COVID-19 data published by the Health Ministry shows cases slowly decreasing, with just 2,668 new cases reported in the past 24 hours.

Friday’s COVID-19 report showed that the number of patients deemed to be critical cases decreased to 1,846 individuals. In terms of COVID-19 related deaths, the Health ministry reported 66 individuals expired due to COVID-19 related symptoms within the past day.

The lethality rate remained at 1.5% of cases, in line with Thursday’s report. Recovery rates made a slight increase, to 94.5% of cases.

Grand Casablanca-Settat continues to be the leading region in terms of new COVID-19 cases, however, the number of new cases reported in the region has dropped to 898. This is a reduction of 202 cases compared to Thursday’s report. The Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region reported 560 new cases in Friday’s report, while the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region reported 366 new cases.

Morocco’s national situation has continued to slowly improve in recent days, as Rabat ramps up its efforts to secure the country’s health situation. On Wednesday, the country’s health ministry reported Morocco’s fully vaccinated population had surpassed 16 million individuals. Despite the continued dangers of the pandemic, Rabat’s efforts have gone a long way to cementing Morocco as a continental leader in itsCOVID-19 response.

Earlier this month, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported Morocco was just one of three African countries to reach the WHO’s September goal set earlier in the year. The goal stipulated vaccinating at least 10% of the country’s most vulnerable population by the end of September. In addition to Morocco, South Africa and Tunisia were reported to have reached the goal within the deadline.
