Rabat – Several European clubs tried to sign Moroccan international center-forward player Munir El Haddadi from Spain’s Sevilla FC during the last summer transfer window.

In an interview with Spanish news outlet ABC Sevilla, Munir El Haddadi‘s agent Francesc Valdivieso listed 12 clubs that have shown interest recently in signing the Moroccan footballer. However, the departure of his teammate, Luuk de Jong in the last hours of the transfer window has put an end to the Atlas Lion’s prospective exit from Sevilla FC.

Several clubs from top football countries reached out to the former Barcelona player, including clubs in England, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and France.

“From England, Crystal Palace FC and West Ham United FC showed great interest until the last moment. From Italy, Genoa CFC, Torino FC, and SSC Napoli were interested at the beginning of the transfer market. Genoa CFC was the most serious until the last moment. From France, OGC Nice and FC Nantes were constantly asking about him,” Munir’s agent stated.

Munir could have been an excellent addition to Crystal Palace. At the start of the season, the South London club struggled to convert its goal-scoring opportunities. In three Premier League games, only Conor Gallagher has scored for the club.

“In the Netherlands, PSV and Feyenoord kept an eye on him until the last moment and Ajax was also considered,” Valdivieso continued.

“There were also offers from Fenerbahce and PAOK Salonika, which persisted until two hours before the deadline,” Valdivieso said while confirming his agent’s desire to stay in Spain: “Munir finally did not want to leave Sevilla or Spain. He did not find the offers from Spain interesting enough,” he concluded.

Formed at Barcelona’s La Masia, Munir has spent the previous two and a half years at Sevilla, joining the club for a sum of just €1 million. The winger has clearly not lived up to his potential. However, his tally of 22 goals in 88 matches isn’t bad for a €1 million investment for Sevilla FC. Thus an extended stay at Sevilla is perhaps the most reasonable solution for the 26-year-old.
