Rabat – Following the recommendations of the last General Assembly of the Atlantic Federation of African news (FAAPA), the Network of Women Leaders of African News Agencies (NWL-FAAPA) has officially launched its website on Wednesday, September 1.
The professional platform operates as a communication space for journalists and female leaders of the Pan-African Federation to exchange experience, data, and skills to contribute in the field of women’s leadership.
The Network of Women Leaders (NWL) seeks to boost interactivity and communication between stakeholders and partners, and aims to organize seminars and thematic symposia under the aegis of FAAPA, chaired by Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, Director General of the Moroccan News Agency (MAP).
Similarly, NWL’s upcoming forums and seminars on current issues intend to enhance “training and partnerships with other entities and structures promoting women’s leadership at both regional and international levels”, said Carine Edwige Mindze, journalist and General Coordinator of NWL, in a welcome message published on the website.
Great importance will be given to make a progressive implementation plan to guarantee the smooth running of NWL across Africa and to consolidate career plans aiming “the promotion and the development at the professional level within the framework of good governance.”
Mindze emphasized the importance of establishing contacts and strategic partnerships with various national, regional, and international organizations to achieve the objectives set by NWL.
The website contains visual elements, data, and documentation to increase the visibility and notoriety of the platform at the African and international level.
Journalists and women executives of African News Agencies created the NWL in 2019 while participating in a seminar held by the African Center for the Training of Journalists (CAFJ) in Rabat, on the theme “Women’s Leadership: Needs and Strategies of African News Agencies”.
The elected committee for the coordination and communication provides support and expertise to the members and ensures, when necessary, the assistance of experts and organizations outside NWL.
Bouchra Azour from the Moroccan News Agency (MAP) is the only Moroccan female journalist who serves in the NWL committee as a member adviser.
