Marrakech Menara Airport Ranked 7th Best In the World

Rabat – Conde Nast Traveler, the British luxury travel magazine, recently published its list of the world’s top ten airports and ranked Marrakech’s Menara airport at number 7.

The article noted the airport’s close proximity to its home city with how convenient it is for visitors to Marrakech, one of North Africa’s most popular tourist destinations.

The magazine also said many among the wave of tourists who annually visit Marrakech praised the city’s airport for its “stunning” design, saying that it makes them feel welcomed into the country’s and region’s culture.

“The moment you land, you know you have been transported into Northern Africa,” one traveler said, according to the magazine. “The airport is a direct reflection of the culture.”

Marrakech Menara Airport is considered to be the second largest airport in Morocco, behind Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport.

While the airport mainly services European destinations as a focus point for Royal Air Maroc and Ryanair, it also has some destinations in the Arab world and the Middle East through Qatar Airways, Saudia, and Turkish Airlines.

Other notable inclusions in the ranking include Singapore Changi Airport  and Istanbul Airport in first and second place respectively.

In the Arab world, Qatar’s Hamad International Airport and the UAE’s Dubai International Airport also made it to the rankings, at number 5 and 6 respectively.

The inclusion of Marrackech’s airport in Conde Nast Traveler’s ranking of the best airports in the world comes as this week’s second news confirming that the Moroccan city is decidedly one of the coveted destinations for memorable travel.

The magazine has just named Marrakech’s La Mamounia the best hotel in the world, marking the third time the Marrakech establishment has topped the list.

Conde Nast Traveler praised the prestigious hotel and said that few hotels are as synonymous with the destination as it is. “If you don’t end up overnighting in one of this former palace’s tiled guest rooms, it’s almost as though you were never in Marrakech,” it wrote.

Published by Condé Nast Publishing in London, is aimed mainly at upmarket independent travelers who fly for leisure; it is widely considered to be the world’s best luxury travel magazine.
