Rabat – Isabel Peralta, leader of the neo-fascist group Bastion Frontal, is facing charges for hate speech and inciting violence against Moroccans and muslim immigrants.
Peralta rose to fame as a leading figure of the far right xenophobic, anti-semitic movement in Spain. She joined a far-right Spanish protest on May 18 in front of the Moroccan embassy, protesting the influx of Moroccan immigrants at the height of diplomatic tensions between Morocco and Spain.
The young fascist claimed she was protesting the Moroccan “invasion” of Europe.
The 18-year old neo-nazi youth leader was first prosecuted in Fubruary on charges of anti-semitism following a protest where she delivered an anti-semitic hate speech.
The Bastion Frontal president additionally made headlines in September when she received an invitation to “complete her training” with Der III Weg (the third path), and infamous neo-nazi political party in Germany.
In its invitation letter, Der III Weg noted that the 10-month “scholarship” would further Parelta’s political education by providing her with a platform to learn combat techniques and propaganda.
Europe has been witnessing a sharp increase in the numbers of far-right, neo-nazi hate groups in the past five years.
Fueled by the immigration crisis due to political instability in most of Africa and the Middle East, the prevailing anti-immigrant sentiment provided the perfect conditions for neo-nazi political parties to prolifirate.
In 2020, experts estimated that far far-right inspired hate crimes pose a larger threat than terrorism.
While it’s illegal to form and join a neo-nazi group in countries like Italy, France, Germany, and the UK, most of these groups tend to disguise themselves as simple far-right political groups, making it harder for authorities to track them.
