Rabat – The adoption of the vaccine pass does not intend to restrict citizens’ freedom, spokesperson of the government Mohamed Baitas said on Thursday.
Baitas said that the government’s decision to adopt the vaccine pass seeks to ensure a responsibility of movement to protect citizens’ lives and the country’s economy amid an international context characterized by “confusion and high prices.”
“This requires us to be more responsible and vigilant,” the official said following a government council chaired by Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch.
Baitas stressed that the mass vaccination campaign gives Morocco an opportunity to avoid a lockdown that will directly impact business owners and employees.
Akhannouch echoed the same remarks during the weekly government council, confirming that the national campaign is “continuing successfully.”
Akhannouch established that “citizens are demanding their right to return to their normal lives and carry out their normal activities, and these are expectations that the government is keen to respond to.”
Morocco’s government defense for the vaccine pass comes amid public discontent and online campaigns, calling on the cabinet to suspend the measure.
