Rabat – Moroccan national carrier Royal Air Maroc has issued a notice to travelers heading to France as part of its special flights to help people stranded in Morocco amid the country’s travel ban.
In the notice, Royal Air Maroc called on passengers to France to fill a new digital platform known as the passenger locator form (PLF).
The company said the form is available at app.elf.eu.
“You are invited to fill it in before departure. Once validated, a confirmation email containing a QR code, that certifies that PLF was filled successfully,” Royal Air Maroc wrote. “The completed form must be presented before boarding a flight to France,”
The notice to travelers to France is part of the company’s emergency plan to help repatriate people who were left stranded in Morocco after the country announced a travel ban to prevent a potential outbreak of Omicron, the latest variant of the COVID-19 virus.
On November 29, Morocco suspended air travel for two weeks. Last week, the government decided to extend the measure to another two weeks as part of its campaign against COVID-19 and its new variants.
Royal Air Maroc has since scheduled several flights to repatriate people stranded in Morocco, offering trips to Spain, France, Canada, Mauritania, and the US, among others.
Yesterday, the Moroccan government announced that it will take similar measures to help Moroccans stranded abroad return home.
Passengers will have to undergo a confinement of seven days as well as take PCR tests every 48 hours throughout their stay at hotels arranged for the repatriation operation.
The government will pay for the seven-day hotel confinement, but passengers will have to pay for their plane tickets, noted the statement.
