Fez – The Moroccan Association for Solidarity (AMS) has launched its Toubkal Action: a Warm Clothing for a Cold Day initiative to benefit 1,200 people, 400 families, inhabitants of 5 villages in the commune of Toubkal, near Marrakech.
In a statement shared with Morocco World News, the Moroccan non-governmental organization (NGO) said it is organizing humanitarian camping to distribute cold packs, including blankets and warm clothes to families living in remote villages.
The NGO started collecting donations in December and will distribute them starting on January 8, 2022, it said on its official Facebook account. AMS works with the support and financing of the BMCI Foundation, CDG Foundation, Bank of Africa, Lina holding, Maghreb Solution, among others.
This is the 14th consecutive initiative from the NGO to help people living in several villages in the Toubkal commune – Tiselday, Tagadirt, Anfsiwne, Tasakka, and Missoure – to deal with the cold weather and snowy mountain conditions.
AMS defines itself as “an NGO with a social and humanitarian vocation acting in the fields of humanitarian assistance and aid for sustainable development in Morocco.” The main objective of AMS is to empower inhabitants of landlocked regions, through social and economic support.

The NGO helps local populations to improve their living conditions and “lead a dignified and decent life.”
AMS said that “every generous gesture will reinforce our action and will allow our fellow citizens living in high altitude and mountain regions, who are particularly exposed to cold and diseases, to enjoy a warm winter.”
Toubkal commune is a small town in Taroudant Province of the Souss-Massa-Drâa region of Morocco. Habitants of the town and the villages around it suffer from extreme cold in winter and the lack of facilities to live comfortable lives.
