Rabat – French-born to a British Mother and French-Moroccan father, Willian Isvy is engaged to Princess Maria Laura, announced the Belgian Royal Palace. The couple plans to exchange their vows in 2022.
Niece to King Philippe of Belgium, the bride-to-be works as an analyst in the climate change sector, while the groom-to-be is an assets manager. Willian Isvy studied at the French school Charles de Gualle, and pursued an undergraduate degree in Finance at McGill University, Montreal. After graduating, Willian worked for an American investment bank.
Princess Maria had a modest upbringing for a member of the royal family. Raised away from the glamour of royal life, Princess Maria grew up in Basel, Switzerland, where her father was a banker. The Princess rarely appeared in public functions or assumed any royal duties.
The Princess studied sinology and international relations in France and holds a master’s degree in international relations and diplomacy from the University of London. After interning for the UN in New York, Princess Maria worked for Louis Vuitton in Shanghai. She is now an analyst in London.
The couple first met in London in 2015 and now live there together. Despite residing and working in London, the couple will hold their wedding in Belgium.
Not specifying an exact date of the wedding, the Belgian Royal Palace noted that it will take place in the second half of 2022.
Attached to the royal announcement was a casual picture of the happy couple embracing. Princess Maria wears a lovely black floral dress, and with her left hand resting on her fiance’s chest, she shows the eye-catching diamond and sapphire engagement ring.
