Agadir – Morocco’s Secretariat of State in Charge of Foreign Trade unveiled eTrade.ma, a national business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce platform dedicated to exports, during a ceremony held on Monday at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the platform is designed to enable Moroccan exporters to showcase their products through an interactive digital marketplace while facilitating direct connections with international buyers.
The launch ceremony was attended by Omar Hejira, Secretary of State in Charge of Foreign Trade, Abdelhadi Sohib, Director General of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, representatives of Morocco’s export ecosystem, and more than 50 executives from exporting companies.
The ministry described eTrade.ma as “a new step in the digital transformation of Morocco’s foreign trade,” noting that it was developed in partnership with UM6P to complement measures outlined in the country’s 2025–2027 Foreign Trade Program, particularly efforts to accelerate digitalization.
The statement added that the initiative aims to boost the competitiveness of Morocco’s economy, promoting national exports and consolidating the country’s position as a regional and continental trade hub.
According to the ministry, the platform seeks to address several challenges that continue to limit the international expansion of Moroccan businesses, particularly very small, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
These include limited visibility in foreign markets, restricted access to international buyer networks, insufficient use of digital marketing tools, and the complexity of identifying export opportunities.
“The objective is to provide simpler, faster, and more effective access to opportunities in global markets,” the statement said.
The government aims to onboard nearly 1,000 Moroccan exporting companies by 2027, with the platform expected to help generate more than MAD 15 billion ($1.6 billion) in additional export revenue, according to the ministry.
The launch also included the signing of two partnership agreements intended to strengthen the platform’s capabilities.
The first agreement brings together the Secretariat of State in Charge of Foreign Trade, PortNet S.A., the OCP Foundation, and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University to integrate eTrade.ma with Morocco’s national single window for foreign trade procedures.
A second agreement, signed with Barid Al-Maghrib Group, Chronopost International Maroc, UM6P, and the OCP Foundation, focuses on developing integrated logistics services for exporters using the platform.
The ministry said eTrade.ma will be introduced gradually, beginning with a pilot version before being progressively opened to all Moroccan exporting companies.
Highlighting the growing importance of digital trade, the ministry noted that the global B2B e-commerce market is estimated to be worth around $28 trillion in 2026 and is projected to exceed $105 trillion by 2033, positioning the new platform as part of Morocco’s effort to capitalize on the rapid expansion of digital commerce.
