Rabat – Morocco’s Ambassador to Jordan Khalid Naciri hailed on December 28 Moroccan-Jordanian relations, conveying Morocco’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with the Middle Eastern country.

In a meeting with the Jordanian President of the Senate Faysal Al Fayez before the members of the Jordanian-Moroccan Fraternity Committee in the Senate, both representatives emphasized means to increase the cooperation between the two countries.

Al Fayez recalled the cordial and strong relations between the two kingdoms, stressing that Morocco-Jordan relations serve common interests of the two nations, and called for promoting joint investment and boosting bilateral trade.

The Moroccan official outlined the two countries’ continuous efforts to promote peace, recalling their common position regarding regional and international conflicts, including the Palestinian cause.

Naciri also spoke on Morocco-Jordan parliamentary relations, welcoming Jordan’s steadfast position in supporting Morocco’s territorial integrity. He underlined that reforms undertaken by Jordan are a model for other countries.

Senator Muhammad Wahsh, Chairman of the Committee, lauded Morocco’s stances as the head of the Arab League’s Al-Quds Committee regarding the Palestinian cause, and the historical Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Members of the Committee also spoke on the need to strengthen the conventions and memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries to serve common interests and create exchanges in tourism, commerce, and economic fields.

In March, Jordan opened a consulate in the Western Sahara. The UAE and Bahrain also inaugurated diplomatic representations in Southern Morocco.
