Rabat – Morocco’s Foreign Affairs minister Nasser Bourita met today in Budapest with his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó.
The two countries are known to organize regular visits to each other in order to deepen talks about bilateral cooperation and opportunities of mutual interest.
Following the Hungarian minister’s visit to Morocco in June 2021, the two countries established a joint declaration which reinforced the already strong ties.
Hungary has shown its support for Morocco on multiple occasions, welcoming the North African country’s role as a regional pole of stability and partner for development.
The European country has also welcomed Morocco’s decisive and exemplary role in fighting against terrorism and irregular migration, as a partner of the European Union.
Both countries committed to several investment opportunities in various sectors including agribusiness, information technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), digitalization and green technologies.

Morocco and Hungary also share a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which aims to improve cooperation in the medical sector and facilitate cooperation through the exchange of expertise and technologies.
In October 2021, Hungary was the latest country to commend Morocco on its renewable energy initiatives.
Among Morocco’s accomplishments, Hungary’s ambassador to Morocco, Miklos Tromler, noted the country’s environmental contributions to the global environmental agenda by organizing the COP22 event in Marrakech in 2016.
In a statement from June 2021, the Hungarian minister reaffirmed his country’s support for the Moroccan Autonomy Plan for the Western Sahara, underlining Morocco’s efforts to develop its southern provinces.
