Fez – The International Center for Sports Studies (CIES) has ranked Morocco’s international Achraf Hakimi among its list of the 100 most expensive players in terms of his estimated transfer value.
The Moroccan star right-back, who plays for French giants Paris Saint Germain, secured the 15th position. He outperformed other renowned players such as his teammate Kylian Mbappe, Liverpool’s star Mohamed Salah, and the five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
This nomination ranks the 23-year-old right-back as the most expensive African player right now, only a few days before AFCON kicks off. The player’s current estimated value is $122.1 million (MAD 1.12 billion).
Hakimi’s nomination among the most expensive football players in the world didn’t come out of the blue. He has been enjoying astonishing seasons with both Morocco’s national team and his club, Paris Saint-Germain, delivering eye-catching performances and collecting prestigious titles and nominations.
On December 7, the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) listed Hakimi among the 11 best footballers of 2021.
On December 3, ESPN nominated him as the best right-back in the world, outperforming other renowned players in his position, such as England international and Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.
