Rabat – Renault’s factories in Morocco saw a 10% increase in production, delivering a total of 303,591 vehicles in 2021.
According to a Renault Group Morocco press release, the company’s plant in Tangier produced 230,002 vehicles, while the Renault plant in Casablanca Somaca manufactured 73,589 vehicles, a total increase of 10% compared to 2020.
Renault exported 84% of its vehicles last year.
The group’s Tangier plant exported 206,448 vehicles, or nearly 90% of its production, while the Somaca factory in Casablanca exported 65% of its production or 48,119 vehicles.
On the domestic market, the Dacia and Renault brands sold 69,721 vehicles, ranking first and second in the national market, an increase of 31.5% compared to 2020 despite the shortage of electronic components.
In addition, there are seven models of Renault that feature among the top 10 best-selling vehicles in Morocco, dominating the market by producing all five top selling models in Morocco.
The Dacia Sandero comes first in the ranking, followed by the Dacia Logan, the Renault Clio, the Dacia Dokker and the Dacia Duster, all “Made in Morocco.”
In 2020, the company launched a digital hub to support its innovation approach aiming to accelerate the digital transformation of its various activities.
The group inaugurated a new high speed manufacturing line “Presse XL High Speed” in Tangier’s plant at the end of last year.
The new line allows the factory to stamp up to 21,000 metal sheets a day, which will greatly improve its productivity and create more opportunities for Morocco to strengthen its position in the automotive industry across the African continent.
