Rabat – Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour has expressed satisfaction with Morocco’s industrial capacity.
Mezzour was part of a panel that participated in the first annual conference of the “Think 2impact” cycle.
The Moroccan Association of Arts and Crafts Engineers organized the event in Casablanca on Thursday to shed light on Morocco’s industrial capacity.
The minister emphasized that Morocco’s industrial capacity is agile to respond not only to its needs but also to the needs of the surrounding countries.
“Morocco demonstrated its innovative capacity to create and invent solutions to meet its needs,” he said, pointing to the importance of youth in creating innovative solutions.
The minister said the solutions will not only ensure national industrial sovereignty, but also industrial sovereignty at the regional level.
Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi, the president of the Institute of Aeronautical Professions (IMA) took part in the event, speaking about the importance of consolidating achievements in global industrial professions while ensuring sustainability.
“We undoubtedly have a fabulous window of opportunity to become an economically sustainable relocation platform,” he said.
Morocco considers the aeronautics sector as one of the key industries in the country.
About 142 companies are operating in the sector, opening up direct and indirect job opportunities.
A 2019 Oxford Business Group report said the automotive and aeronautic industries had contributed an average of around 19% to Morocco’s GDP. “In 2017, this increased, raising the sector’s contribution to around 25% of GDP,” the group said.
Houda Farrahe, secretary-general of the organizing association of arts and crafts engineers, suggested the establishment of support mechanisms necessary for Moroccan industries to improve Morocco’s skills.
The businesswoman emphasized that this will make it possible to generate profiles capable of guaranteeing industrial sovereignty.
Abdelmalek Alaoui, the president of the Moroccan Institute of Strategic Intelligence (IMIS) cited the advantages of “having a solid network of contacts,” calling on entrepreneurs to maintain ties with partners.
“Tomorrow they are the ones who will fill their order books. The network is a strength that we do not use enough in Morocco,” he said, emphasizing that it is an important asset to leverage business networks to reach more customers and achieve rapid growth.
