Rabat – A group of Moroccan expatriates has created a collective to provide Moroccans in Ukraine with support amid the escalation of the Kyiv-Moscow crisis.
The collective, convening Moroccans from four countries, aims to provide not only housing and financial aid but also mental support to help Moroccans caught in the Ukraine crossfire get over the current crisis.
The members of the collective are dispatched in Poland, Romania, France, and Belgium.
The collective is “already in touch with Moroccan students currently trying to get through borders,” the group said in a statement shared with Morocco World News (MWN).
Sarah Bourial, one of the members of the collective, told MWN that the goal of the collective is to ensure housing for Moroccans in the countries they are going to as they hastily evacuate Ukraine in droves.
The housing will not be in refugee camps but rather with fellow Moroccans living in the four countries with members of the collective, added the statement.
The collective also seeks to convey relevant information on the ground from people crossing borders at specific points.
In addition, the group aims to provide mental support, financial aid, as well as translation, guidance, and help with paperwork if necessary.
The collective also created a form that Moroccans seeking to benefit from t assistance need to fill out.
According to their statement, the form should include the person’s email and personal information such as phone number and social media accounts where the collective can reach out to them.
While filling out the document, assistance seekers are equally required to precisely indicate the kind of support they will need as they leave Ukraine.
Many Moroccans are currently moving towards crossing points between Ukraine, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia.
Morocco’s Embassy in Kyiv advises citizens to always carry with them their identity documents and to remain in permanent contact with the embassy and the crisis unit it has set up for the evacuation of Moroccan citizens.

Mehdi Amiry, a student in Ukraine, told MWN today that he arrived in Oddessa, a city in southern Ukraine m, to travel to Romania.
The student said that many Moroccans are traveling with him.
On Saturday, Moroccan authorities announced that 181 Moroccans had managed to depart Ukraine through the land border in one day.
