Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a military operation in Ukraine, mobilizing heavy equipment and troops to invade Kyiv.

BBC said Russia’s military “breached the border” at several points in Ukraine.

The news outlet said Ukraine announced eight people have been killed in Russian attacks. Police in the country also declared at least 19 people missing.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said his country is strong and stressed that Ukraine is ready for anything.

“We’ll defeat everyone because we are Ukraine,” he said.

Zelensky said Russia launched strikes on Ukraine’s military infrastructure and border guard units.

Uproar ignited after Russia’s military attack, many describing it as “unjustified.”

US President Joe Biden said his country and its allies would respond in a “united and decisive way to an unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces.”

He said President Putin has chosen a “premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life and human suffering.”

The EU Commission also condemned the attack. The commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said the EU supports Ukraine, calling on Russia to withdraw its military.

The UK joined the international community, saying that Putin chose a path of “bloodshed and destruction by launching this unprovoked attack.”

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) condemned Russia’s attack.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said he condemns Russia’s “reckless attack on Ukraine, which puts at risk countless civilian lives.”

“This is a grave breach of international law & a serious threat to Euro-Atlantic security. #NATO Allies will meet to address Russia’s renewed aggression,” he added.
