Rabat – Morocco and the UAE appear set to strengthen parliamentary relations. The Emirati Ambassador to Morocco, Al-Asri Saeed Ahmed Al Dhaheri, has hailed the decades-long and cordial relations between the countries.

In a meeting with the Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami, the Emirati diplomat welcomed Morocco’s unwavering support of the UAE on a broad range of topics, according to a statement.

Ahmed Al Dhaheri expressed his support for the initiatives aiming to strengthen bilateral parliamentary relations between the two nations by enhancing the sharing of experiences and expertise on issues of common interests.

The Emirati ambassador also spoke of the notable history of parliamentary relations between Morocco and the UAE, adding that his country aspires to strengthen parliamentary ties at the bilateral and multilateral levels by boosting mutual visits, friendship groups, and ongoing coordination.

Meanwhile, Talbi El Alami lauded the historical and cultural ties between the kingdom and the UAE, as well as the significant cordial relations uniting the leaders of the two countries.

The Moroccan parliamentarian reiterated Rabat’s unwavering position in supporting the Gulf country in defending its territories and maintaining stability in the region.

He also recalled the achievements and dynamism of Morocco’s House of Representatives, stressing that it has good relations with its counterpart in the UAE and expressing readiness to share experiences and expertise to further strengthen parliamentary ties.

Morocco and the UAE have long expressed their keenness to strengthen ties in several fields.

In December 2021, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmad Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies, emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership uniting the two countries. The Emirati minister made the comments during his participation in the celebration of Morocco’s National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The UAE is among the top Arab countries investing in Morocco and third in terms of foreign direct investment. The Moroccan market currently counts around 30 Emirati companies.
