Rabat – Air Arabia announced today a repatriation flight for Moroccans residing in Ukraine amid fears of a Russian invasion and reports of increasingly escalating tensions between Kyiv and Moscow.
Air Arabia said that it will operate the repatriation flight connecting Kyiv and Tangier on February 15.
The airline called on people interested in the repatriation flight to visit its website.
Air Arabia’s announcement comes after Morocco urged Moroccan nationals living in Ukraine to leave the country amid threats of conflict.
Recommending citizens to leave the country for their safety, the Moroccan embassy in Ukraine provided concerned citizens with numbers to call for clarification amid the deepening uncertainty.
On Sunday, the embassy asked Moroccan citizens living in Ukraine to call the green number 0800502683 for more information about the security situation and repatriation plans.
Meanwhile, people living in Morocco can dial 0537663300 to receive information from the embassy.
Amid escalations, Ukraine has called for a meeting with Russia demanding answers for the deployment of thousands of Russian troops on the country’s borders.
Ukraine foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba has accused Russia of ignoring formal requests to “explain the build-up of troops,” the BBC reported.
For its part, Russia has denied plans to invade Ukraine despite the dispatch of 100,000 soldiers on Ukraine’s borders.
