Paris Saint-Germain footballer Achraf Hakimi wants to leave the French football club, according to foreign media.
“Hakimi is going crazy. So much so that the South Americans no longer speak to him. He wants to leave,” French journalist Daniel Riolo said during his RMC radio show two days ago, adding that the player does not feel comfortable on the team.
Hakimi signed with the French club in summer 2021, with PSG’s head coach Mauricio Pochettino and sporting director Leandro Araujo thought of the players as a good catch.
PSG’s managers spent €65 million to recruit the former Real Madrid player as club right-back.
When Hakimi first arrived in the French capital, he expressed his eagerness to win titles with the Parisian club and leave a legacy at PSG. “It’s going very well. I am happy in this incredible city and team. Everyone is very kind to me,” he said back then.
The Moroccan international has already made 32 appearances with the club this season, with PSG extending his contract until June 2026.
“I criticized Hakimi for his fluctuating form, but it must be said that in this team he struggles to express his qualities,” the journalist said during his radio show.
Meanwhile, many other European clubs have their eyes on the Moroccan international. Spanish outlet Defensa Central has earlier reported that Real Madrid is eying Hakimi’s return.
British newspaper The Sun reported on Thursday that Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel could be tempted to go in for Hakimi again, citing his ability to play in both “right and left flanks.”
Hakimi became a great hit during two seasons on loan with Borussia Dortmund, according to The Sun, and the German club may leap at the chance to re-sign him.
Hakimi spent the majority of his formative years at Real Madrid Castilla, the club’s academy, before making his debut for the main squad half a decade ago. The 23-year-old rose to prominence away from Real Madrid, first on a two-year loan with Borussia Dortmund and then last season with Inter Milan.
