Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology (DMN) has said heavy rainfall in several provinces across Morocco is set to last until Thursday.
The weather office is expecting heavy rainfall to continue until 5 p.m. today in the provinces of Guercif, Jerada, Taza, and Nador in northern Morocco.
Rainfall ranging between 15 and 25 millimeters is also expected on Wednesday in the provinces of El Jadida near Casablanca and Safi in the Marrakech-Safi region.
The weather office forecasts rainfall that will start today and last until Thursday in the provinces of M’diq-Fnideq, Larache, Fahs-Anjra, Oiuezzane, Tangier-Asilah, Tetouan, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, and Driouch in northern Morocco.
The rainfall will also affect Sefrou, Meknes, Fez, Ifrane, in Taza, Taounate, Moulay Yacoub, El Hajeb in the Fez-Meknes region, as well as in Khemisset near Rabat, Khenifra, Beni Mellal, Khouribga, Fquih Ben Salah, Azilal in Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, and in El Kelaa des Sraghna, and Al Haouz in Marrakech-Safi region.
The weather office is also expecting snowfall in the provinces of Taza, Ifrane, Sefrou, Bouleman, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Khenifra, Al Hoceima, Al Hahouuz, Midelt, and Guercif.
In addition to rainfall and snowfall, strong wind ranging between 70 and 85 kilometers per hour is expected to start today and continue until Thursday in the provinces of Figuig, Jerada, Oujda-Angad in eastern Morocco, Errachidia and Midelt in Draa-Tafilalet region, and Boulemane (in Fez-Meknes).
The recent rainfall is expected to contribute to Morocco’s agriculture season after months of drought.
