CCIMI Organizes First Morocco-Israel Symposium

Rabat – The Morocco-Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIMI) has announced the schedule of the first “Morocco-Israel Symposium” on agriculture and fish farming.

The event will take place later this week, between March 16 and 17, at the Agro-Veterinary Institute (IAV) Hassan II in Ait Melloul, near Agadir, CCIMI said in a press release.

The forum aims to facilitate the exchange of information and knowledge between specialists from both countries, as well as report on developments in the fruit, vegetable, and fish farming sectors.

It will focus on water issues and the use of new technologies to optimize irrigation, which is a crucial issue for the industry, CCIMI said.

During the event, producers from the Souss-Massa region, where 85% of Morocco’s agriculture exports come from, will learn about new directions for the industry and explore potential research and development partnerships between universities and producers, added the press release.

Souss-Massa producers will also explore cooperation opportunities with Agritech start-ups and potential investors from Israel.

The initiative is a part of the newfound Moroccan-Israeli commitment to restoring relationships and a strategy to relaunch economic activity in Morocco to build a more resilient and sustainable post-COVID economy in line with the guidelines of the country’s New Development Model.

“This action will aim for the participation of more than 250 entrepreneurs, officials

and representatives of companies in the sector, startups, laboratories, and research institutes from Morocco and Israel,” noted CCIMI’s statement.

It added that the symposium will be an essential and concrete contribution to Morocco’s national drive to boost productivity, skills, innovation, and new technologies in agriculture.

The CCIMI is a non-profit organization that supports the institutional environment and aims to strengthen the Moroccan-Israeli economic relationship.

Since the re-establishment of relations between Morocco and Israel in December 2020, the two countries have strengthened relationships and partnerships in various fields.
